UNIFORMS

Hi Parents,

This is just a quick note about uniforms. Of late, I have had a few parents come to me asking about their child's lost uniform. Could I please ask that your child's clothing is clearly labelled, including if you have a second hand jumper with someone else's name on it. Could you please re-label this. This makes our job a lot easier when finding the owner.

Thanks so much for your help!

Happy labelling!

THRASS DAY

Kindergarten and Year 1 and 2 had a fabulous morning today consolidating their knowledge of THRASS. Students were asked to dress up as a character from the THRASS chart. Mrs Packer and Ms Rosewood came as a queen and Mrs Oehlers came as rain. Throughout the morning students rotated around a range of activities based on THRASS. We can’t wait to present our THRASS video at the K/1/2 Assembly next week. We hope everyone had so much fun!

We are looking forward to seeing many parents tonight at the THRASS Parent Information Night.

Valedictory

Today, St John's bid farewell to our Year 12 girls at NEGS.
Students handed each student a hand made flower and made a guard of honour.
It was quite an emotional moment for many of the Year 12 girls and their families.

Have a safe and restful holiday and I look forward to seeing you all next term!

Pyjama Day

We had so much fun today for Pyjama Day! Students dressed up (down) in their pyjamas for the Year 6 Fundraiser. We had so much fun at the different activities: haunted house, nerf gun, sculpture painting, face painting, dance off and most of all sponge throwing at the teachers!! Thank you for sending your child in their pyjamas and I hope they had as much fun as I did!!

THANK YOU

MUSICAL

Thank you to all parents for sending in clothes for the musical.

A special thank you to Mrs Harvey-Lynn for helping with the make-up on both the Matinee and main performance night. Very much appreciated!

SPRING FAIR

Thank you to all parents in Kindergarten who donated craft supplies for the Spring Fair. A special thank you to all the Kindergarten parents who kindly donated their time at the Spring Fair. Thank you to Mrs Alldis for organising the stall and roster on the day.

SOCCER

Thank you to Mr Alldis who has kindly stepped in as soccer coach at different times throughout the season. It is lovely to have so much enthusiasm on the field from a parent!

Grandparents Day

Grandparents Day was held last week. Students and Grandparents had a lovely time in our classroom. Students showed their Grandparents (and special visitors) how we play out THRASS games, to help us to decode words. Students read to their visitors and were all involved in a directed drawing activity

Thank you to all our visitors. We hope you had a great time!
Kindergarten loved giving their visitors a small gift of thanks....Check out the photos

Gardening

Kindergarten have been weeding our vegetable garden in preparation for our Spring planting. Students planted many herbs and vegetables. We can't wait to watch them grow and harvest later in the year.

Making Wind Meter

In Science, Kindergarten have been learning about Weather. Students have analysed different clouds in the sky, looked at weather symbols and kept a weather journal. To conclude our unit, students made their very own anemometer.
An anemometer, is a device used from measuring wind speed, and is a common weather station instrument.

Students used straws, cups and listened to a set of instructions in order to complete the anemometer. Students went outside to test their wind meters, but there wasn't any wind. Hopefully, students can use them at home on a windier day.

Wild Animal Encounters

Wild Animal Encounters visited St John's with their snakes and lizards. Adam, presented many different lizards and snakes from all over the world. At the end of the show, Adam also had a tortoise to show students. Students were able to touch each reptile and enjoyed their time.

Thanks to Wild Animal Encounters for an amazing presentation!
